HR1717, Congressman Price's bill to replace Medicare's flawed bidding program with the Market Pricing Program, gained seven more cosponsors this week.
The most notable are Representatives Erik Paulsen (R-MN) and Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) who both serve on the Ways and Means Committee. Their committee along with the Energy and Commerce Committee decide Medicare policy.

Congressmen Glenn "GT" Thompson (R-PA) and Bruce Braley (D-IA) held a press conference yesterday, announcing their bipartisan letter to CMS Administrator Tavenner to delay the July 1st implementation of Medicare's bidding program. The letter was co-signed by a total 227 U.S. Representatives, a majority in the House.

Last week, providers of diabetic testing supplies began receiving phone calls from confused Medicare beneficiaries, in response to a letter they received from CMS about the National Mail Order program.
The first issue is that the letter implies access and savings, but fails to mention that only a limited number of suppliers were awarded contracts in the bidding program.

This week, 19 more cosponsors were added to HR1717, the 2013 Market Pricing Program Act. We are now half way to our goal of a majority in the House, which would require only 112 more cosponsors.
The most prominent is Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) who serves as co-chair of the House Small Business Committee.
