On April 8, 2013 Medicare released the list of Round Two contracted suppliers along with the following statement:

"For Round 2, CMS has awarded 13,126 DMEPOS competitive bidding program contracts to 799* suppliers." The CMS Fact Sheet also mentioned that, "90 percent of contract suppliers are already established in the competitive bidding area, the product category, or both."

Yesterday, Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) introduced an updated Market Pricing Program bill for the 113th Congress.

The Thomas.gov website does not have a link to the text of the bill's language yet, but it will replace the current flawed bidding program in Home Medical Equipment with the Market Pricing Program. The MPP will require binding bids, transparency from CMS and collateral from bidders in order to participate.

Last week, AMEPA was notified about a letter sent by the Competitive Bidding Implementation Contractor to contracted suppliers for CBA's in Tennessee, who may not have a physical location in the state.

Five years ago today, on April 10th, 2008, AMEPA held our inaugural meeting in a packed ballroom in the Fort Lauderdale-Airport Sheraton Hotel. That was three weeks after the original Round One bid rates were announced and about 6 weeks before the lists of contracted suppliers were published.
